Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at high levels for the past 24 hours. The target region NOAA 12673 produced 9 M-class flares (the largest one being a major M5.5 at 20:28 UT on September 4) since the last message. Two of them were associated with halo or Earth-directed CMEs. 12673 has a complex beta-gamma-delta configuration, increasing in sunspot area (now 680 uh) and number of spots significantly. It developed rapidly and continues to grow. At this time we are implementing a Major Flare Watch campaign. Another major (>M5) event is likely within the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 12673 on September 5 at 07:30 UT is:
S08W20 (323", -243")
